Ebola cases exceed 10,000 with case fatality approaching 50 percent

The Congolese Ebola epidemic has reached 10,274 confirmed cases and 4,992 deaths. Of confirmed patients whose illness has ended, two of three have died, no better than in West Africa 12 years ago, while the 31 cases outside the Congo have produced four deaths.
